  1. Why is my cup leaking?

If your cup leaks, it is probably because it is not sealed correctly. Check if your cup is open properly. To do this run your finger around the side of the cup. It should feel even all the way around. If you feel an indent try twisting your cup around to form a suction. You can always take the cup out and try again. Again it is trial and error and you may need time to get used to using your cup or finding the right size. You might want to try a liner while you are getting used to it.

  1. How do I clean my cup when I am out and about?

Remember to wash your hands first and if you can, wash the cup in cold water. If you are in a public toilet use toilet paper to wipe it and pop it back in.

  1. How long can I leave my cup in?

Everyone's flow is different. Your cup can be left in for up to 12 hours however we recommend you empty it more often. When your flow is heavy you might want to empty it every 4-6  hours.

  1. Can I sleep with my cup in?

Definitely. You can use it for up to 12 hours depending on your flow.

  1. Can I have sex with my  cup in?

This is a no, it's about the one thing you can’t do using our cup but you can with a menstrual disc.

  1. What happens if my cup gets stuck?

Relax. Try bearing down like you are doing a poo. This should push the cup down for you to get a grip on the stem of the cup. Then you should be able to break the seal and then gently pull the cup out.

  1. Can I be allergic to my cup?

Our cups are made from 100% medical grade silicone so there is a very low chance of an allergic reaction. If you do have a reaction, remove the cup and talk to your doctor.

  1. Can I put my cup in the dishwasher?

No, it’s best not to put the cup in the dishwasher.

  1. Can I poo when I'm using my cup?

You sure can but be aware it is possible for it to come out if you push too hard while pooing.

  1. How long does the cup last for?

The cup can last for several years. However this really depends on how it’s taken care of. We recommend that you replace your cup if you notice any tears or holes, if a sticky film has formed or you notice a strange smell. Some discoloration is normal over time.

  1. Can I use my cup with an IUD?

Yes you can.

  1. How do I remove discolouration from my cup?

It is normal for a cup to stain over time. Make sure you give your cup a really good scrub. Wash the cup in cold water first, preferably using a mild scent free water based soap. Use the bohokiwi soft brush to gently scrub at any stubborn stains. Dry it completely before storing it – air drying in a well-ventilated place or in direct sunlight is best.

  1. How do I store my cup?

Once you have finished using your cup for the month, wash the cup then store in the bohokiwi cotton drawstring bag we provided with your cup. You can also use the bohokiwi steriliser for storing your cup between periods.

  1. I am a virgin, can I use the cup?

Yes, we suggest you start with the mini cup as it’s the smallest.

  1. What are the holes in menstrual cups for?

The holes are there for a reason. They allow air to pass through the cup while inserting and removing it. These holes can get blood caught in them over time, so make sure to clean your cup thoroughly with the bohokiwi brush.
